The Spacer G is a temporary implantable device, made of a load-bearing structure in AISI 316L stainless steel coated with gentamicin bone cement to help the treatment of an infected total hip replacement using the two-stage method.

Clinical Indications

• To temporarily replace total hip replacements when implants are removed as a result of septic mobility
• The device is positioned in the space left free by the removed infected implants
• The Spacer device is left in situ until the infection is completely treated, a definitive prosthesis is then implanted

*Partial weight-bearing and functional use of the limb must be assessed on an individual basis in relation to the anatomic condition, bone trophism and clinical conditions of the patient during rehabilitation stages. In particular, one should avoid the risk of excessive weight-bearing or forced mobilisation which could cause the structure of the Spacer to damage the bone tissue.
