Orthodynamics Launch Cannulok Plus, a unique modular hip prosthesis with locking intramedullary nail

The Cannulok ® Plus system is a unique combination of revision hip prosthesis with locking intramedullary nail. The range has now been extended to provide four stem diameters (11, 13, 15 and 17mm), three stem lengths (240, 300 and 360mm) and two anatomic offsets, providing surgeons with a greater choice of solutions.

Indications for use include:

  • Management of grossly deficient proximal femurs as a result of osteolysis
  • Reinforcement of the femur where bone stock is depleted as a result of previous surgery
  • Periprosthetic fractures around both total hip and hemiarthroplasty implants.
  • Femoral fractures and fractures around the trochanteric region, complicated by metastatic bone disease
  • Intraoperative fracture of the femur during hip arthroplasty

To assist closed fracture reduction the prosthesis is cannulated with distal locking for improved fixation. The stems are fully hydroxyapatite coated and anatomically sided with both standard and 45mm offset options available. The system offers a choice of modular heads to maximise leg length adjustments or retention of the existing acetabular component.

Presentation of the cannulated instrumentation had also undergone significant changes, together with the introduction of new instrumentation following consultation with existing users.

The Cannulok ® Plus system is the solution to Femoral Reinforcement.

‘Custom stem’ options to include supplementary distal locking holes, anterior screw holes, exaggerated anatomic bow, variations in length and variations to HA coatings, are also available.
